About the author
Scottish writer Ken Pratt is a graduate of Glasgow University’s renowned Creative Writing Masters, and author of Hunting Captain Henley, The Taking of Battlemount High, The English Student, and The Persecution.
Ken, a Glasgow based journalist, was a finalist in the Guardian Award for International Development Journalism for his disturbing reportage from Uganda and DR Congo.
Born in Hamilton, Scotland in 1965, after school Ken went to Glasgow Uni, completing an MA in English.
On graduation he joined The Sunday Post as a trainee reporter and was one of the first journalists on the scene at the Lockerbie Disaster.
He also covered the Piper Alpha Disaster for The Post and was despatched on a number of foreign assignments including to Jerusalem during the First Gulf War and to The Soviet Union during the collapse of Communism. Ken also covered the World Cup in Italy as a newsman and the European Championships in Gothenburg before moving to The Sunday Sun in Newcastle as an investigative reporter. He then freelanced for a short period from South Africa near the end of the Apartheid regime.
